The Eswatini Chess Federation (ECF) is responsible for the promotion, development, encouragement and facilitation of chess in Eswatini. It is there to protect and foster the interest of Eswatini Chess players both locally and internationally. ECF was formed in 2006 and is an affiliate of the Swaziland national Sports and Recreational Council, a body responsible for overseeing sports proceedings in the country. We are also a member of Federation Internationale des Echecs (FIDE) an international chess mother body. ECF was recognized in Eswatini in 2012 in the then Swaziland National Sports Council and we joined FIDE in 2011. It is our prevalent ambition to take Chess to another level in Eswatini and to put it at the first world status level. The Federation has made  giant strides since joining Fide. From our first rated player in September of 2014, three Candidate Masters in 2018 to wining gold in our ladies category in the World Chess Olympiad in  Chennai India, 2022. We are now in the phase of developing our local players to be able to take their chess to the next level and possibly make a living out of it.
